Revival Dear The Undesirables Rivoli in Toronto, Ontario on June 4, 2009 Full Photo Set (12 photos) I had so many different options for the night of June 4th, it was almost like being out at a restaurant and wanting to order everything on the menu. But when the wait staff finally showed up and asked for my order, I suddenly knew what I wanted; I decided on an appetizer of Revival Dear at the Rivoli, followed by a main course of Inward Eye at the Tattoo Rock Parlour (which will be the next article). Revival Dear Back in 2006, I used to go to C'est What on Sunday nights every now and then for a sort of mic-by-invite night. It was hosted by Terrence Gowan, Derek Downham, and Tim Bovaconti. You'd get a good night out with tasty handcrafted beers and sometimes a musical surprise or two. One of those surprises came in the form of Revival Dear. A lot about this band has changed over the years: They are now on the independent label U Spin Records, they have endured a few insane touring schedules (check their MySpace page for past shows), and although Derek Downham was back behind the drums for them this night, many changes in the line-up behind Eddie Orso (vocals, guitar) and Shelley Hayes (vocals, mandolin) have occurred. But one thing that hasn't changed over the years is the pure passion that pours out when they deliver their country-rock music. The best part of this show was getting to hear their new song, Virginia Green, which was a real stand-out.
